Shelly is fully qualified to teach Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), having completed the most in-depth qualification available in the UK: a 4 year Certificate of Competence to Teach, at Bangor University School of Psychology. Shelly is the most qualified and experienced MBSR and MBCT local teacher in the West Midlands area and current research in mindfulness states that the effectiveness of a mindfulness course is reliant on the quality and experience of the mindfulness teacher.
- Shelly has practiced mindfulness for nearly 20 years and holds a Masters Degree in Teaching Mindfulness which was achieved by studying 5 years at Post Graduate level at Bangor University School of Psychology.
- She has trained with Dr. Jan Chozen Bays and teaches Mindful Eating.
- She has completed Mindfulness Supervision and Train-the-Trainer training with Bangor University and is a qualified Supervisor and Mentor for Mindfulness Teachers.
- She has trained with the Mindfulness in Schools Project and is a qualified .b practitioner.
- She has taught over 50 MBSR and MBCT courses within private companies (staff), privately to groups and individuals, and within the NHS – Primary and Secondary Care and staff.
- Shelly realises that her practice is her most important teacher and practices mindfulness on a daily basis.
- Shelly holds a Post Graduation Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from University of Birmingham. She is a qualified CBT Psychotherapist working within the NHS and privately.
